Delete a contact

Permanently delete a contact of the authenticated business, the same way Delete works on the Contacts page.

Authentication

This endpoint authenticates with your API key sent in the X-API-Key header (ek_live_... format). You can manage your API keys from the Dev Tools section of the dashboard.

This cannot be undone. The contact is removed together with its conversations and messages, and the follow-ups scheduled for it are cancelled.

Notes

  • If the contact is a duplicate, prefer POST /contacts/merge: it keeps the history, and the person keeps reaching the surviving contact.
  • No request body is required.
  • Possible errors: 401 (invalid or missing API key), 404 (contact not found in your business), 500 (the contact could not be deleted).
